So... maybe Melania Trump's speech had a super model in Michelle Obama. Okay. But, let's remember that plagiarism has a great and longstanding tradition in politics. The two go together like Bonnie & Clyde... or like gin & tonic.

We could go further, though. Plagiarism also has a great, longstanding history and relationship with literature. Even classic literature. I'm not citing examples here because I don't want a heady swarm of my academic friends and colleagues bombarding me with protestations. (If that is you? Don't do it... Not unless you bring a bottle of tequila over.)

So, everybody take a breath. Trump and his ridiculously lovely wife are not, necessarily, the end of the world. They're just one of many possibilities.
